Moldovan, Romanian Culture ministers discuss Frankfurt International Book Fair participation
Minister of Culture of the Republic of Moldova Cristian Jardan is paying a visit to Bucharest at the invitation of Minister Andras Istvan Demeter, with the joint Precucuteni-Ariusd-Cucuteni-Trypillia file and participation in the Frankfurt International Book Fair in 2028 on the agenda of the discussions.
According to a press release from the Ministry of Culture sent to AGERPRES on Friday, Jardan and Demeter held a bilateral meeting at the National Museum of Romanian History, during which the main directions of cultural cooperation between Romania and the Republic of Moldova were discussed, as well as concrete projects under way or in preparation.
'At the National Museum of Romania's History, the delegation enjoyed an engaging presentation of new research technologies and visited behind the scenes of the exhibition ‘The Danube, the river that shaped a world. Roman territories between the Iron Gates and the Black Sea',' a few days before its opening on 17 February, the press release reads.
The two ministers reviewed the progress of the joint Romania - Republic of Moldova - Ukraine nomination file for the Precucuteni-Ariusd-Cucuteni-Trypillia Cultural Complex, with a view to its inclusion on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Another important point of the discussion concerned the participation of the Republic of Moldova, alongside Romania, in the Frankfurt International Book Fair in 2028, when Romania will have the status of guest of honour.
'The Moldovan side voiced the wish to be present within this major framework for international promotion and the Romanian Minister of Culture underlined that in 2028, at the Frankfurt International Book Fair, culture from Romania as a whole will be represented, with the widest possible diversity of areas, sectors and voices. The presence of culture from Moldova, likewise, should entail, alongside publishing houses and authors, an open formula, so that a truly engaging offer may be brought to the attention of the public in Germany,' the press release reads.
An important step in this direction will be the drafting of a new memorandum of understanding between the Ministries of Culture of Romania and the Republic of Moldova, as well as annual action plans to structure projects and ensure continuity and measurable results.
Cristian Jardan praised the expertise of Romanian specialists in the heritage area and the possibility of an exchange of experts and good practices regarding the digitisation and classification of cultural heritage was discussed.
On Thursday evening, the two ministers attended the exhibition 'Brancusi Regads Us All,' organised by the 'Constantin Brancusi' Research, Documentation and Promotion Centre in Targu Jiu and the National Museum of Art of Romania, in the context of the Brancusi National Year, as well as the ballet performance 'Le Corsaire' at the National Opera Bucharest.
