Culture Minister pays visits to Peles Castle and Bran Castle; several urgencies remain unresolved
Culture Minister Demeter Andras toured the Peles National Museum and the Bran National Museum, to address some 'urgent issues' facing these 'extraordinary heritage assets.'
'I decided to visit these landmarks because there are several urgent issues, as well as unresolved matters, situations which have been dragging on for months and even years and I wanted to see with my own eyes what is happening, to discuss with the managers and other colleagues there. In order to manage to do what is needed for these extraordinary heritage assets, evidence of Romania's royalty, everyone's involvement is required,' Demeter Andras conveyed on Thursday in a post on the Facebook page of the Culture Ministry.
The minister particularly praised the care and attention with which, under the given conditions, movable goods in these historical landmarks are preserved, stored or displayed.
According to the Culture Ministry, at the Peles Castle, where both ongoing repairs and the need to restore the terraces are a priority under the Ministry's programmes, Demeter Andras also discussed with the team led by Manager of the Peles Museum Narcis Ion about the ticketing system and access control, about the implementation of the sectorial Collective Labour Agreement and the contract regarding the immovable goods.
The visit at the Bran museum complex (which has been operating for years under a lease on various private properties, other than the restituted one) and then the meeting with Marketing Director Alexandru Piscu and the new Director General of the Bran Castle Brian King was primarily aimed at identifying solutions to overcome the blockage.
The principles established in the autumn were reviewed, in order to expedite the resolution of the serious problems that Bran's heritage has been facing for more than a decade.
Together with the Bran National Museum Director General Mihai Gorgoi and Anemona Todor, specialist officer, the state of preservation of the open-air museum, the permanent and temporary exhibitions, as well as the storage facilities in the 'Regina Maria' History Section, were reviewed, the Culture Ministry added.
