BrancusiYear/'The Infinite Walk/Immersive tribute to Constantin Brancusi,' at 'BRIGHT. Festival of Lights' in Brussels
A video mapping project offering a contemporary interpretation of Brancusi's themes, created by Ioana Mischie, Les Ateliers Nomad and Storyscapes, will be presented in Brussels from Thursday to Sunday at the 10th edition of the 'BRIGHT. Festival of Lights,' an emblematic event dedicated to light art and visual innovation.
According to a press release from the Romanian Cultural Institute (ICR), the work 'The Infinite Walk/Drumul infinit. Immersive tribute to Constantin Brancusi,' produced for ICR in the context of the Constantin Brancusi Year, will have its world premiere one week before the 150th anniversary of the great sculptor's birth.
The video mapping will be projected onto the Church of Saint-Jacques-sur-Coudenberg and will be screened for four and a half hours each day, between 18:30 and 23:00, totalling 18 hours of projection.
The work, conceived as an animated 3D video mapping format, will temporarily transform the Church of Saint-Jacques-sur-Coudenberg into a monument dedicated to Brancusi, the ICR highlighted.
This marks ICR Brussels' tenth participation with a project in the 'BRIGHT. Festival of Lights.'
The creative team includes director Ioana Mischie, Matei Dersidan for 3D mapping, Sebastian Comanescu as 3D graphic artist and composer Adrian Tabacaru. Storyscapes is responsible for content generated with the help of artificial intelligence technologies and post-production is ensured by Studioset.
The presentation of the project in Brussels is made possible thanks to the support of the organisers visit.brussels, the Brussels-Capital Region and the Belgian public funder Beliris, ICR informed.

Ioana Mischie is an innovative artist advancing new technologies in cinematography and storytelling, whose work focuses on transmedia projects combining film, virtual reality and interactive media. Her most recent immersive creation, 'Human Violins: Prelude,' was selected at last year's Cannes Film Festival in the official 'Cannes Immersive' section and is among the top eight VR experiences worldwide.

The BRIGHT Festival is one of the most eagerly awaited open-air cultural events in Brussels, bringing together over 20 artistic installations created by national and international artists. In addition to light shows, the festival includes related activities such as museum exhibitions, guided tours and interactive workshops accessible to audiences of all ages. The 2025 edition featured 20 installations, 30 public and private institutional partners and attracted 450,000 spectators, of whom 120,000 were from other countries.
