Romania's Chief of Defence Vlad says Romania will continue to support Moldova militarily
Romania will continue to support the Moldova, including militarily, in order to strengthen its defence capacity, the Romania's Chief of Defence Gheorghita Vlad told a news conference on Tuesday when asked what would happen in the event of a conflict in neighbouring Moldova.
Vlad said that Moldova could be defended by a coalition of will, not by NATO, in the event of a military conflict, following the pattern for Ukraine.
' Moldova is a neutral state. So, under no circumstances can NATO be involved in defending, in the event of an internal conflict here. But that does not mean that there cannot be formed coalitions of will, on the pattern that is coalescing today for Ukraine should a conflict take place in. Romania remains very determined to support Moldova in a multi-dimensional way. And as far as I am concerned, from a military point of view, we provided, we provide and will continue to provide military assistance to Moldova to strengthen its defence capabilities for it to be able to respond to any external threat.'
He held a news conference on Tuesday, together with NATO General Alexus G. Grynkewich, chief of Supreme Allied Forces Europe (SACEUR) and U.S. European Command (USEUCOM), at the headquarters of the Multinational Corps South-East (HQ MNC-SE), in Sibiu. After a meeting with journalists, the two officials visited the Getica National Joint Training Centre in Cincu.
