Italian firearms producer Beretta is negotiating a full transfer of technology with Romanian gov't
Italian firearms producer Beretta, which is currently negotiating with the Romanian authorities for a complete transfer of technology to Romania, has formally submitted its response to the Request for Information (RFI) issued by the SAFE Technical Secretariat led by the head of the Chancellery of the Romanian Prime Minister.
According to a press release of this company sent to AGERPRES on Wednesday, the negotiations concern the full manufacturing in Romania of the following products: the NARP 5.56 assault rifle, the APX 9x19 semi-automatic pistol and the 40mm grenade launcher.
At the same time, Beretta is ready to partially produce in Romania its 7.62 sniper rifles and the 5.56 and its 7.62 light machine guns. The company also expresses its willingness to hold further negotiations for a full technology transfer for its 9x19 submachine gun.
'Fabbrica d'Armi Pietro Beretta S.p.A. has formally submitted its response to the Request for Information (RFI) issued by the SAFE Technical Secretariat of the Romanian Government. The submission outlines a comprehensive and forward-looking proposal to strengthen Romania's defence industrial capabilities while contributing to the broader resilience of the European defence ecosystem.This proposal offers a structured industrial model that combines advanced manufacturing, technology transfer, and Romanian-based industrial implementation while remaining within the European compliance frameworks and coordinated defence procurement initiatives. Beretta offers an extensive portfolio of cutting edge, high-tech, state-of-the-art solutions designed to meet Romania's defence requirements due to the company's well-known and extensive approach to comprehensive problem solving. This Beretta proposal establishes Romania's collaboration within the European Defence Industrial Base in a manner that follows the EU established criteria and reinforces long-term operations in a sustainable manner without hindering domestic production capabilities,' the press release states.
The manufacturer's representatives also mention that the central element of the proposal is a comprehensive technology transfer programme, designed to support the integration of manufacturing processes in Romania.
