Image

Over 800 representatives of the academic milieu from Romania and abroad will participate in the 'Smart Diaspora 2025' event, which will be organized by the 'Babes-Bolyai' University (UBB) in Cluj-Napoca between November 4-7.

The sixth edition of the 'Romanian Scientific Diaspora - Smart Diapora 2025' Conference is organized in collaboration with the member universities of the Union of Universities of Cluj (UUC) - Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, 'Iuliu Hatieganu' University of Medicine and Pharmacy, University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, 'Gheorghe Dima' National Academy of Music, University of Arts and Design - and the Romanian Academy, with the support of the Ministry of Education and Research and the Executive Unit for Financing Higher Education, Research, Development and Innovation (UEFISCDI), under the High Patronage of the Presidency of Romania.

'Smart Diaspora 2025, a benchmark event in terms of international academic collaboration, will bring together over 800 members of the academic, scientific and research community from around the world, who will participate in the 30 workshops organized by Cluj-Napoca universities,' reads a release issued by UBB on Wednesday.

According to the cited source, the opening of the event will take place on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at 6:00 p.m., in the Auditorium Maximum of the Babes-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca, in the presence of central and local authorities and representatives of the academic, economic and cultural environment, being marked by a piano concert held by the artist Ana Silvestru and the Romanian traditional music ensemble 'Icoane', led by teacher Ioan Bocsa.

The days of November 5 and 6 will be dedicated to papers and debates in sections, hosted by the six member universities of the Union of Cluj Universities, and the final debates, conclusions and closing ceremony of the event will take place on Friday, November 7, 2025, from 10:00, at the new headquarters of the 'Gheorghe Dima' National Academy of Music.

'The fact that Smart Diaspora 205 is hosted this year in Cluj underlines the status of our city not only as a leading academic center, but also the huge potential we have in terms of international scientific research and innovation networks. Our university has assumed the role of coordinator of the event in Cluj, which represents a great responsibility, but, certainly, the event would not have been complete without the participation of all UUC member universities and certainly would not have been possible without the support of the Ministry of Education and Research and UEFISCDI', the rector of UBB, Professor Adrian Petrusel Phd, was quoted in the press release,.

The cited source also informs that the 'Smart Diaspora' event has brought together, in the editions so far, over 4,000 participants, highlighting the special importance that Romania attaches to science, technology and innovation for the development of the knowledge society, for economic and social progress, and the role of the diaspora and international academic collaborations.
