Romania's industrial production declines by 2pct in the first half of 2025
Romania's industrial production declined by 2pct as gross series in the fist quarter of 2025 compared to the same period last year, while, as series adjusted by number of working days and seasonality, it dropped by 1.2pct, according to the National Institute of Statistics (INS) data published on Thursday.
According to official data, between January 1 and June 30, 2025, as gross series, declines were recorded in manufacturing (-2.4pct) and mining and quarrying (-1.1pct). On the other hand, electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply was up 0.6pct year-on-year.
Moreover, as adjusted series by number of working days and seasonality, industrial production declined by 1.2pct compared to the reference period, as a result of declines recorded in for manufacturing (-1.4pct) and mining and quarrying (-1.0pct). The electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply increased by 1.4pct.
In June 2025, industrial production (gross series) decreased by 2.9pct compared to the previous month, due to drops in mining and quarrying (-4pct), manufacturing (-3.1pct) and the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (-0.7pct).
In the same interval, industrial production (series adjusted by number of working days and seasonality) decreased by 1pct because of negative results registered in mining and quarrying (-1.9pct), electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (-0.7pct) and manufacturing (-0.3pct)
Furthermore, compared to the corresponding month of the previous year, in June 2025, industrial production, as gross series increased by 2pct, but it dropped by 0.8pct as adjusted series by number of working days and seasonality.
