More than half of the Romanians (56%) who are aware of the Black Friday plan to purchase in the 2026 edition, and a third of potential buyers will allocate a budget of over RON 3,000, reveals a specialist survey published on Tuesday.

According to data centralised by Kantar Romania, Black Friday remains among the most famous sale events in Romania, with a continuous consolidation of popularity and a notoriety of 92%.

At the same time, 56% of those who are aware of this shopping event said that they plan purchases for the 2026 edition, and a third have planned a budget of more than RON 3,000, while one in six say they allocate over RON 5,000 for this event.

Overall, the average Black Friday budget increased by almost 10% this year from 2025.

'Online shopping retains its popularity, and eMag remains the first online platform that potential buyers think of, being taken into account by almost half of them. That is also reflected by the fact that more and more Romanians say they participated in the shopping event in the past: 34.8% of those familiar with Black Friday show that they purchased a product on sale last year. Also, over a quarter of respondents say they trust the Black Friday campaign 'a lot' and 'a lot', the survey shows.

On the first place in the ranking of Romanians' preferences for Black Friday 2026 is the category of small appliances, with 37% of potential buyers stating that they would be interested in such a purchase.

In second place are TV sets (33.8%), a category that increased by 15% from last year, and the ranking is completed by the interest in clothes (26.3%), a segment that maintains its popularity among consumers annually.

At the same time, laptops return to the list of the most sought-after products, up 46% compared to last year. Other top 10 categories are: mobile phones (23.8%), refrigerators (18.9%), washing machines (18.5%).

The survey was conducted between October 8-15, 2026, on a nationally representative sample of 2,001 respondents, aged between 18 and 65, with the interviews being conducted using the CATI method, with a maximum margin of error of 2.2%, for a confidence level of 95%.
