Greece, Bulgaria, Turkey and Italy are the top vacation destinations for Romanians (poll)

Three out of four Romanians who will spend their vacation abroad this summer have chosen countries such as Greece, Bulgaria, Turkey and Italy as their destination and 54.5% have chosen their personal car as their means of transport, according to a survey conducted by CEC Bank in partnership with financial portal FinZoom.ro.
However, out of the total number of people surveyed, one Romanian in six chooses to spend their vacation outside Romania.
According to a press release from CEC Bank, Greece is the country where most Romanians have chosen to spend their vacation abroad, respectively 26% of the respondents, while over 17% have chosen Bulgaria, 15.4% will go to Turkey and 13% to Italy. Lower in percentage are countries such as Spain (7%), Egypt (5%) and France (2.5%), while other destinations have even lower percentages.
When it comes to choosing the means of transport they will use when going on holiday, 54.5% of the respondents mentioned their personal car, while the train is chosen by 22.42% and the bus and plane by only 12% and 11%, respectively.
When asked 'Where do you get money for your holiday', over 77% of respondents answered that they save money in advance, saving throughout the year. Much fewer (9%) borrow from friends, slightly less than 7% say they use holiday vouchers to pay for their holiday and almost 5% use a credit card/overdraft. Very few, respectively 2%, say they receive holiday bonuses from their employer.
Regarding the size of the holiday budget, 42% of respondents talk about a decrease in the budget, by 10% to 30%, compared to the one allocated last year, while for one in four Romanians, it is similar to last year. Only about 10% of Romanians will allocate 10% - 30% more compared to last year.
When asked how they will make payments on vacation, over 38% of the respondents say they will pay cash and about 22% a combination of cash and card payments, whether debit or credit. Just over 17% will pay only with debit card and cash, almost 6% only with credit card and just over 5% only with credit card and cash.
The survey was conducted online, by the financial portal FinZoom, at the request of CEC Bank, on a representative sample of about 1,200 respondents from all over the country, representative of internet users. 58% of respondents are employees, over 70% live in the city, 40% have higher or postgraduate education.
