David Popovici advances to 200m freestyle final with fourth-best time at 2025 World Aquatics Championships

Romanian swimmer David Popovici, the reigning Olympic champion, has secured a spot in the final of the men's 200m freestyle at the World Aquatics Championships - Singapore 2025, clocking the fourth fastest time in Monday's semifinals.
Popovici, who posted the fastest time in the preliminary heats (1:45.43), won the second semifinal with a time of 1:45.02. However, the top three finishers in the first semifinal recorded quicker times.
The fastest qualifier was American Luke Hobson (1:44.80), followed by South Korean Sunwoo Hwang (1:44.84) and Polish swimmer Kamil Sieradzki (1:45.00).
The final of the 200m freestyle will take place on Tuesday at 14:02 Romanian time.
