Romanian tourism promotion campaign running in Doha July 21 - 27
The Ministry of Economy, Digital Transformation, Entrepreneurship and Tourism (MEDAT) is running a free exposure tourism promotion campaign for Romania in Doha, Qatar's capital city, from July 21 to 27, the Ministry said in a release.
The campaign takes place under a partnership with Dooha Media - the first integrated digital media company in Doha, specializing in outdoor advertising and in shopping malls. The initiative thus marks a concrete step towards consolidating Romania's presence on the tourism markets in the Gulf area.
'Qatar is witnessing a strong economic momentum, with a significant presence of multinational companies and an increasingly strong focus on creative, innovative and technology industries. Against this background, a campaign to promote Romania, carried out in top visibility spaces becomes an opportunity for Romanian incoming tourism. We identified this possibility at FITUR Madrid, in a direct meeting with the Dooha Media team, and we managed to negotiate a free-exposure one-week agreement for some of the most attractive media supports in Doha. Through this action, we target both the local public and the large expat community working and living in Qatar - active people, interested in traveling, the more so as there is a direct flight service between Bucharest and Doha,' declared Marian Vaduva, advisor with the MEDAT Marketing and Representation Service - Tourism Directorate General.
The promotional videos made by British journalist and producer Charlie Ottley and copyrighted by MEDAT will be broadcast in two formats: during the weekend, on the curved exterior screens of Tawar Mall - one of the largest and most modern shopping centers in Qatar, strategically located on the main transit and business routes; and for a week, on the ICONO screen located in one of Doha's busiest intersections.
The campaign pursues a set of key goals, including: increasing the international visibility of Romania as a tourist destination; stimulating the interest of tourists from the Gulf region; generating new opportunities for collaboration between Romanian tourism actors and international agencies, especially from the Arab area.
'Romania has not been present with a national stand at exhibition events in the Gulf region since 2019, which makes this action to rekindle regional interest in Romanian destinations all the more relevant,' the release states.
