Autoracing: The first night drift race to take place at Transilvania Motor Ring
The first night stage in the history of the National Drift Championship will take place at the end of this week on the Transilvania Motor Ring circuit, where almost 70 drivers from six countries have announced their presence, according to a press release from the organizers.
'The second stage of the 2025 season is notable not only for its nighttime running, but also for its extensive international participation. Drivers from six countries have been announced at the start: Romania, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Hungary, the Republic of Moldova and Norway. By Wednesday, almost 70 drivers had registered, including Gabi Imre jr, Natalia Iocsak, Claudiu Adam, Sorin Ene, Miklos Laszlo and Catalin Trifan', informs RoDrift.
The official competition program will start on Thursday, June 19, with a public presentation of the drivers and a meeting with the fans, scheduled for 7:00 p.m., in the parking lot of the Shopping City Targu Mures shopping center.
From Friday, the action moves to the Transilvania Motor Ring. Starting at 2:30 p.m., Friday is scheduled for practice, while the evening begins with a Drift Experience session, addressed to spectators, and from midnight the qualifications will take place: the SemiPro category at 00:00 and the Pro category at 01:30 a.m.
On Saturday, June 21, practice will continue, and in the second part of the day the elimination duels will take place. The battles are scheduled for the night: SemiPro at 00:00, and Pro at 01:30, followed by the awards ceremony, estimated at around 03:00, on Sunday morning.
The Transilvania Motor Ring circuit, located near Targu Mures, is the largest permanent racing circuit in Romania. The stage organized by RoDrift thus marks a premiere for Romanian motorsport, being the first official drift competition held entirely at night, with dedicated lighting on the competition route.
In addition to the competition itself, the public will have access to related activities, including a camping area, food court, relaxation areas and demonstration moments. The organizers also announce live broadcasts of the key moments through the rodrift.ro/live platform.
According to estimates, the event, organized for the first time at night, will attract over 5,000 spectators over the three days.
