Bihor: World Art Nouveau Day in Oradea, under the international theme 'Color'

Oradea residents and tourists in the city will be able to celebrate, on June 8, World Art Nouveau Day (June 10) through a series of events organized by the Foundation for the Protection of Historical Monuments in Bihor County (Oradea Heritage).
According to a press release from the foundation, throughout the day, visitors and locals are expected to discover the city's heritage through extraordinary concerts, daytime and nighttime guided tours, conferences, openings, workshops and spectacular light installations, light shows and videomapping, in accordance with this year's theme, 'Color'.
The ten guided tours to discover the Art Nouveau capital of Romania will start at the Black Eagle Palace in Unirii Square. Eight of them, at one-hour intervals, will have a guide in Romanian, the one at 12 noon will be for Hungarian speakers and one, at 3 pm, in English.,
'There will be two very special guided tours of rarely seen spaces inside the Black Eagle Palace at 11:30 and 1:00 p.m. And photographer Remus Toderici proposes a series of special tours for photography enthusiasts inside the Black Eagle Palace at 3:00 p.m., 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.,' the organizers announce.
For those passionate about arts and crafts, the Darvas-La Roche House hosts several thematic workshops: ceramics, stained glass and painting.
The conference 'Art Nouveau, an eclectic style?' will be held by Oradea Heritage documentary filmmaker, Deodath Zuh, at 4 p.m., in the conference room on the ground floor of the Darvas-La Roche House.
At 6:00 PM, in the winter garden of the Darvas-La Roche House (1st floor), the opening of the ceramic installation entitled 'All I Can See Are Ghosts' by the Belgian artist Guillaume Slizewicz, who spent two weeks as an artist-in-residence in Oradea, as part of a project coordinated by the Art Nouveau Network, will take place. The artist will also be present at a public discussion at 6:30 PM.
The Oradea State Philharmonic Choir will perform two a cappella concerts entitled 'Color and Rhythm' on the Balcony of the Kolozsvary House (2 Iosif Vulcan Street, corner of Republicii Street), from 1:00 PM and 6:00 PM.
At 9:00 PM, the stage located in the square behind the State Theatre will host an extraordinary performance by multi-award winning British artist Emma Smith, who will sing jazz songs from the interwar period. Emma Smith has performed with artists such as Michael Buble, The Quincy Jones Orchestra, Jeff Goldblum, Bobby McFerrin & Gregory Porter, as well as the American supergroup Postmodern Jukebox.
Under the title 'Colours of Art Nouveau', between 10:00 PM and 1:00 AM, several buildings in the city center will 'come to life' with the help of spectacular light installations and video mapping.
