PresidentialElection2025/Catalin Predoiu:I voted for a Presidency to launch major projects to modernise state and society

Minister of Internal Affairs Catalin Predoiu, interim leader of the National Liberal Party (PNL), said on Sunday that he voted for a presidency that would 'launch major modernisation projects for the state and society.'

'I voted for a Presidency that will launch major projects to modernise the state and society, ensure security both inside the country and at the borders, and provide Romania with a dignified representation abroad,' said Predoiu after voting at a polling station organised at C.A. Rosetti Theoretical High School in Bucharest.

He urged Romanians to go to the polls: 'I would like to make an appeal to all Romanian citizens to participate in voting. It is both a right and a moral duty. This is an important moment for the entire country, for all citizens, for its future. It's natural that each of us, once we've formed an opinion, should take part in this democratic, transparent and free process.'

According to Catalin Predoiu, the electoral campaign took place 'without incidents, without deviations.'

'It was a campaign in which all candidates had the opportunity to express their views. The press organised many debates, which is very, very beneficial for the democratic process and for the candidates who took part. Of course, we always expect more from debates, from a campaign, but I believe that, overall, we can say it was a process that unfolded normally,' the minister said.

Regarding reports of a cyberattack that allegedly targeted several institution websites on Sunday morning, the Interior minister declined to comment.

'I don't want to comment until the institutions with the authority to analyse such incidents express their position. Until those institutions form an opinion and pronounce themselves, I will make no comment,' Predoiu said. AGERPRES (RO - writing by: Daniel Popescu; EN - writing by: Adina Panaitescu)
