Resident and non-resident individuals over the age of 18 can invest in Fidelis government bonds denominated in RON and EUR, as of Friday, April 4, until Friday, April 11, according to a press release of the Ministry of Finance.
Subscription can be made through partner banks BT Capital Partners & Banca Transilvania, Banca Comerciala Româna, BRD - Groupe Societe Generale, Alpha Bank and TradeVille in partnership with Libra Bank.
The Ministry of Finance mentions that Fidelis III of 2025 is the 13th edition of the campaign 'Romania has the blood of a rocker, now also of an investor,' carried out together with 'Morning Glory with Razvan Exarhu,' Rock FM, through which blood donors receive the best interest on government bonds. More and more blood donors have also become investors, so that, to date, the 26,618 donor-investors have subscribed almost 2.9 billion RON.
The special tranche dedicated to blood donors for government securities issued in RON, with a maturity of 1 year, has an interest rate of 7.60%.
Another benefit offered to donors is the 10-fold decrease in the minimum subscription threshold from 5,000 RON to 500 RON. People who provide proof of blood donation starting with October 1, 2024 can benefit from the advantageous conditions of the new issue.
Also, in order to encourage blood donation, starting with the April edition of the programme, donor-investors can subscribe to Fidelis securities in the dedicated tranche, within a maximum ceiling of 100,000 RON.
Along with the special tranche dedicated to donors, the Fidelis edition that debuts on April 4 will also include the following issues: government bonds in RON, with maturities of 1 year, 3 years and 5 years and interests of 6.60%, 7.30%, and 7.60%, respectively, and government bonds in euros, with maturities of 2 years and 7 years and annual interests of 3.60% and 6%, respectively.
The nominal value of a Fidelis government bond is 100 RON for the issue in RON and 100 EUR for the issue in EUR, and the minimum subscription threshold is 5,000 RON and 1,000 EUR, respectively.
In the process of subscribing to Fidelis government bonds, no commissions are charged by intermediary banks, and the income obtained, both from interest and from capital gains, is non-taxable. There is also the possibility of selling the securities before maturity, receiving interest related to the holding period.
