Bucharest-based Hungarian Cultural Centre to host mini-festival of literary translation in February
Bucharest, Feb 6 /Agerpres/ - A mini-festival of literary translations, organized by the Liszt Institute - Hungarian Cultural Centre in Bucharest and the Romanian Cultural Institute, will take place on February 6, 12 and 13, at the headquarters of the two institutions.
The event, which celebrates for the third time the National Culture Day of Romania and the Hungarian Culture Day through a joint event, presents Romanian and Hungarian literary translations published last year, the Liszt Institute informs on Thursday.
'We are starting the series of events dedicated to literary translations on February 6. with the presentation of two volumes of literary translation published by the Lector Publishing House from Targu Mures and the Bookart Publishing House from Miercurea Ciuc: Octavian Soviany's volume 'Calcaiul lui Magellan' [Magellan's Heel], translated into Hungarian with the title 'Magellan sarka' by Kiraly Zoltan, and Ovidiu Genaru's volume 'Cartea lui Mircea. Canal' [Mircea's Book. Canal], translated into Hungarian with the title 'Mircea konyve. Duna-csatorna' by Demeny Peter. Razvan Voncu, vice-president of the Romanian Writers' Union will discuss with the translator Demeny Peter, and Galfalvi Agnes, director of the Lector Publishing House, will discuss with author Octavian Soviany and translator Kiraly Zoltan,' the Hungarian institute states.
The second part of this mini-festival dedicated to literary translations will take place on February 12 and 13.
'On the first evening, we will present at the headquarters of the Liszt Institute - Hungarian Cultural Centre in Bucharest the volume by Karacsonyi Zsolt, 'Nu sunt aici' [I'm Not Here] translated into Romanian by George Volceanov, respectively the Hungarian translation of the novel 'Fantoma din moara' by Doina Rusti (translator Szenkovics Eniko) and the volume of poems 'nicioda nu striga ajutor' by Mircea Cartarescu, translated by Visky Andras. Marton Evelin will discuss with the authors and translators,' the press release states.
On the third evening, which will take place at the headquarters of the Romanian Cultural Institute on February 13, two volumes translated into Romanian that were published by Tracus Arte Publishing House will be presented: the volume of poems 'Tinandu-se de câte-o creanga' [Holding Onto a Tree Branch] by Santha Attila, respectively the short story book 'Curent alternativ' [Alternating Current] by Szollosi Matyas.
