Construction works kick off at 99.2 MW Green Breeze wind park
OX2 Romania and global power and renewable energy platform Nala Renewables have started construction works on the 99.2 MW Green Breeze wind farm in Galati County, a release informs.
Nala Renewables acquired the project in August 2024 and under the agreement, OX2 will build and then operate it, with Nala Renewables overseeing these activities.
Located mainly in the municipality of Cuca in the county of Galati, Green Breeze is a major investment in the energy future of the region and Romania. With a capacity of 99.2 MW, it will consist of 16 Vestas V162 V162-6.2 MW turbines, with commissioning expected to start in 2025. The project has access to the grid secured through a connection contract signed with Transelectrica in March 2023.

OX2 Romania Country Manager Lacramioara Diaconu-Pintea emphasized that Green Breeze highlights the successful collaboration between central and local authorities and renewable energy investors for a sustainable future of Romania.
Nala Renewables, a joint venture between IFM Investors and Trafigura, acquired the Green Breeze project in August 2024. Once commissioned, OX2 will be responsible for the technical and commercial management of the project, overseeing operations and optimizing with Nala's Asset Management. The wind park's forecasted annual energy production is 312 GWh, covering the annual electricity consumption of 51,000 households and contributing to a reduction of about 150,000 tons of CO2 emissions per year.
The financing of the project is provided by Erste Group and its subsidiary, Banca Comerciala Romana.
The Green Breeze wind power plant civil works, as well as the medium voltage network, including the internal power station, will be carried out by CJR Renewables. The 110 KV underground power line and the grid-connecting sub-station will be built by the Enevo Group-Siemens Energy consortium. The project was developed together with Kompact Grid, which will continue to provide OX2 technical assistance for the construction phase together with Bilfinger Tebodin (OX2 owner's engineer).
Nala is a 50/50 joint venture between Trafigura - one of the world's leading independent commodity trading companies - and IFM Investors. By 2025, Nala Renewables' goal is to build a global portfolio of renewable energy projects with a cumulative capacity of 4GW.
OX2 develops, builds and sells renewable energy solutions on a large scale. OX2 also offers post-completion wind and solar farm management services, and is also active in developing projects based on other renewable energy technologies, such as hydrogen.
