Speaker Ciolacu, in the Republic of Moldova: Speaking Romanian language means to belong to the Western world
Special AGERPRES correspondent Cristian Lupascu reports: The reintroduction of the Romanian language as an official language in the Republic of Moldova represents not only a victory for Romanianism, but an act of courage, Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies Marcel Ciolacu stated on Monday, in Ialoveni, in the Republic of Moldova.
He said that "speaking Romanian in the Republic of Moldova means to belong to the Western world" and adopting European values.
"The return of the Romanian language as the official language is not only a victory for Romanianism, but a necessary act of courage. I know that there are still voices in your ears saying you haven't made the right decision. But I want to tell you that these are the same voices that tell you that the Russian language is the one that pacifies and harmonizes. The truth is only one: the Republic of Moldova has adopted one of the official languages of the European Union at the state level. In other words, speaking Romanian today means supporting European values. In short, to speak Romanian means to belong to the Western world. Be proud of this!," said Ciolacu.
The Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Marcel Ciolacu, together with the President of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, Igor Grosu, participated, on Monday, in the unveiling ceremony of the busts of historical personalities Alexandru Marghiloman and Ion Inculet, in the Sfatul Tarii Park, in the municipality of Ialoveni.
The event takes place in the context of the 105th anniversary of the Union of Bessarabia with Romania.
Alexandru Marghiloman was the prime minister of Romania when the Union took place on March 27, 1918, while Ion Inculet was president of the Council of the Country in Chisinau.
The Romanian Minister of Culture, Lucian Romascanu, also took part in the ceremony.
