National Culture Day/ Bucharest City Hall organizes exhibitions, book launches, creative workshops, performances

Bucharest, Jan 14 /Agerpres/ - Romania's National Culture Day will be celebrated in Bucharest through exhibitions, book launches, photography, creative workshops, debates and performances, Bucharest City Hall informs.

The events will be organized by the cultural institutions from January 14 to 23, according to a PMB press release.

* The National Museum of Romanian Literature (MNLR) organizes several events.

On January 15, visiting the permanent exhibition of the MNLR, as well as its Memorial Houses is free of charge.

The workshop 'Eminescu in comics', coordinated by Mihai Grajdeanu will take place at the MNLR Tea Room, a photo-documentary exhibition 'Romanian Identity/European Identity' can be admired in the Romanian Academy Hall, and the debate 'G. Calinescu. Editor and monographer of Mihai Eminescu', an event organized in partnership with the Institute of History and Literary Theory 'G. Calinescu' of the Romanian Academy will take place in the attic of the MNLR. Furthermore, the 'Young Writers Gala /The Poetry Book of the Year 2024' will take place at the MNLR headquarters, and an 'Evening dedicated to Eminescu' will be organised in the Aula of the Central University Library 'Carol I, with Arlinda Morava and Claudiu Bleont reciting and Adriana Alexandru on piano.

* The Bucharest Metropolitan Library (BMB) has prepared a series of events, held on Wednesday in all its 29 branches, under the theme 'The Living Literature Journey'. Participants will have the opportunity to take part in creative workshops, public readings, mini-concerts and thematic exhibitions.

The BMB branches will host exhibitions of books and paintings dedicated to Mihai Eminescu, a debate on his work (within the AntiM Literary Circle), reading workshops, poetry mini-recital, calligraphy writing workshop (with texts from Eminescu's work), exhibition of drawings in harmony with Eminescu's verses, reading session and many others.

* Bucharest Municipality Museum prepared: the opening of a thematic exhibition in London, a free workshop for children and special concerts organized at the Sutu Palace and Dinu Lipatti Memorial House.

Thus, on Tuesday, the Dinu Lipatti Memorial House will host the chamber recital 'Poemele chitarei', dedicated to the poet Mihai Eminescu.

On Wednesday, the Romanian Cultural Institute in London will host the opening of the exhibition 'Bucharest: Maps in movement'.

On Thursday, at the Dinu Lipatti Memorial House there will be a violin-piano recital, performed by violinist Mihai Mangir, grand prize winner of the Remember Enescu International Competition (2023) and the pianist Verona Maier. Mihai Mangir will play the Paul Kohl violin, which belonged to George Enescu.

The National Culture Day will be celebrated at Dinu Lipatti House also on Saturday, when it will host the recital organized in partnership with Sonus Animae Association. Also, on Thursday, January 23, will take place a recital organized in partnership with the same association - 'Bentoiu & Enescu - Romanian Music in the European Context', with Irina Nanushi - violin and Elena Anca - piano.

On Sunday, the Museum of Ages - Filipescu Cesianu House hosts the children's workshop dedicated to discovering the world of Mihai Eminescu's life in Bucharest. The workshop is held by the writer Miruna Lepus and is addressed to children aged between 10 and 14. The children will follow the mouvements, life and creation of the greatest Romanian poet and journalist in Bucharest, from his first stop at the age of 16 to the period when he worked for the newspaper 'Timpul' and his last stay in the capital.

On Monday, January 20, at the Sutu Palace, the show 'Eminescu, forever' will take place, performed by soprano Arlinda Morava, accompanied on piano by Adriana Alexandru, with the participation of actress Theodora Stanciu. Special guest: performer Iosif Preda. The repertoire will be composed of Balkan music, novels, famous arias.

* CREART offers to the public, on January 15, at the Teatrelli hall, the performance 'Applause for the poet on stage', with Emilia Popescu and Mihai Malaimare. The two actors will recite from the works of classical and modern Romanian poets, from Eminescu to Marin Sorescu, Nichita Stanescu or Emil Brumaru, in harmony with the piano interpretation of Catalin Raducanu (musical direction Oltea Serban-Parau). Realized after an idea by Ovidiu Miculescu, the show is completed by video projections with Victor Rebengiuc, Mariana Mihut, Stefan Banica and Dorel Visan. Ion Caramitru recites in an archive intervention.

* ARCUB - Hanul Gabroveni invites children and their parents, on Wednesday, to a juggling workshop 'with rhymes with and without nonsense', held by the writer Carmen Tiderle, winner of the Children's Prize Carturino for the book 'Cornute cosmonaute si alte 116 nonsensuri'. Participation in this workshop is included in the price of the entrance tickets to the exhibition 'Abracadabra - Secrets of Magic'.
