Personalities, projects from various walks of life honored at Radar de Media's 'Contemporary Values' Awards Gala

Cultural, scientific, sports and religious personalities were honored on Thursday evening at the 'Contemporary Values' Awards Gala organized by Radar de Media news outlet, under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture, at the 'Luceafarul' Hall in Bucharest.

The awardees were picked from among the personalities who, in the last 20 years, have made major contributions to Romanian culture, theater, film industry, music, science, education, sports, spirituality, charity, and to Romania's global reputation in general.

President of the Romanian Academy Ioan Aurel Pop, and former gymnast Nadia Comaneci addressed video messages to the gathering.

Journalists, writers, theologians, film and television producers, teachers climbed the stage to receive their honors. The recipients include TV producer Iuliana Tudor, professor priest Constantin Necula, musician Ovidiu Lipan Tandarica, doctor Radu Gabriel Dobrescu, actress Carmen Tanase, fashion designer Catalin Botezatu, director of TVR Moldova Nicolae Mocanu.

The award due to Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church was accepted on his behalf by patriarchal adviser Nicolae Dascalu.

AGERPRES National News Agency received the Cultural Distinction for the projects of national and international impact whereby it promotes authentic Romanian culture and values.

Atlas School received the Excellence Award for outstanding quality and performance in inclusive education; school deputy director Vlad Ciprian Mares accepted the honor.

The 'Lift for Better' association was awarded for its outstanding activity in supporting culture and education for children from disadvantaged backgrounds.

The event was completed by the launch of The Bucharest Times, a publication of the Myosotis Media Group, and the MOTIV wine range of the Ceptura Winery.

The Radar de Media Project has been around since 2009, following the model of the U.S. Radar Online in a bid to award the public's media preferences, but also performance and excellence through nominations and evaluations by specialist committees.
