GCS: 7,676 new cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection in over 67k tests done in past 24 hrs

Bucharest, Sep 25 /Agerpres/ - As many as 7,676 new cases of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 have been recorded in the past 24 hours, with more than 67,000 tests being done, the Strategic Communication Group reported on Saturday.
So far, 1,187,773 cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus have been confirmed in Romania and 1,096,136 patients have been declared cured.
At the national level, up to this date, 9,507,523 RT-PCR tests and 3,064,095 rapid antigen tests have been processed.
In the last 24 hours, 22,530 RT-PCR tests were performed (10,070 based on case definition and medical protocol and 12,460 on request) and 44,834 rapid antigen tests.
Aside from the newly confirmed cases, following the retesting of patients who were already positive, 597 people were reconfirmed positive.

As many as 9,852 people infected with SARS-CoV-2 are hospitalized in specialized health units, among them 264 children, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) announced on Saturday.
According to the cited source, 1,195 patients are admitted to intensive care, of whom 17 are children.
In Romania, 47,502 people confirmed with the novel coronavirus infection are in isolation at home and 8,841 are in institutionalized isolation.
Also, 60,407 are in quarantine at home, and 225 people are in institutionalized quarantine.

A total of 121 deaths - 61 men and 60 women - in patients infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus have been reported in the last 24 hours, with the mortality rate rising to 36,230, the Strategic Communication Group reported on Saturday.
Of the 121 deaths, one was registered in the age category 20-29 years, three in the age category 30-39 years, 2 in the age category 40-49 years, 13 in the age category 50-59 years, 31 in the age category 60-69 years, 36 in the age category 70-79 years and 35 in the age category over 80 years.
In the case of the deceased person in the 20-29 years age category, it is about a 26-year-old man from Covasna, unvaccinated and who had comorbidities.
According to GCS, 1188 of the recorded deaths were of patients who had comorbidities, 3 deceased patients did not show comorbidities.
No deaths were reported before the reference interval.

As many as 12 intensive care beds are free on Saturday, nationally, for patients sick with COVID-19, other than those reserved specifically for people with certain medical conditions who are also confirmed with SARS-CoV-2, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) reported.
The GCS says that at the national level 1,251 ICU COVID beds are in use, of which 1,195 are occupied. At the national level there are only 12 beds for patients sick with COVID-19, other than those reserved especially for persons with certain medical conditions that are also confirmed with SARS-CoV-2.
According to the source, in Bucharest there are three free ICU beds, two in Constanta County, one in Galati, two in Harghita, and four in Sibiu.
