GCS: 160 new infections with novel coronavirus in Romania; total number of people sick - 1,452

Bucharest, Mar 28 /Agerpres/ - A number of 1,452 persons were confirmed, up to now, in Romania to have the novel coronavirus, 29 deaths being recorded, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) informs.

Since the last informative bulletin, 160 new cases were recorded.

The patients recently confirmed to be infected have ages between 13 and 83 years, the GCS mentions.

Of the persons infected, 139 were declared healed and discharged: 54 in Timisoara, 55 in Bucharest, 16 in Iasi, 6 in Craiova, 6 in Constanta and 2 in Cluj.

Up to now, 29 persons diagnosed with COVID-19 have deceased. All had pre-existing chronic diseases.

There are 34 patients currently in the ICU, of which 25 in grave state. The health status of the rest of the patients is good with no changes.

 

*** GCS: 7,801 persons in institutionalized quarantine on Romanian territory

 

On Romania's territory, there are 7,801 persons in institutionalized quarantine, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) informs.

Another 131,367 persons are under self-isolation and medical monitoring.

Up to this time, at the national level, 19,663 tests were conducted, of which 1,277 in private medical units.

In the past 24 hours, there were 1,122 calls to the single emergency number 112 and 6,039 to the TELVERDE line for informing citizens (0800 800 358).

 

*** GCS: Number of Romanian citizens confirmed with COVID-19 abroad is 67; deaths - 11

 

The number of Romanians abroad infected with COVID-19 is 67, and 11 Romanian citizens abroad have deceased, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) informs.

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic and up to now, 11 Romanian citizens abroad have deceased: 8 in Italy, 2 in France and one in the UK, the quoted source mentions.

In what regards the situation of Romanian citizens in other states, according to the information received by the Romanian diplomatic missions and consular offices abroad, up to now, 67 were confirmed infected with COVID-19: 52 in Italy, 4 in Spain, 2 in Namibia, 2 in Indonesia, 3 in France, and one each in Tunisia, Ireland, the United Kingdom and Luxembourg, the GCS shows.

GCS reminds citizens to only take into consideration information verified by official sources and to call the TELVERDE live - 0800 800 358 for recommendations and other information.

The TELVERDE line is not an emergency number, but a phone line strictly to inform citizens, the quoted source emphasizes.

Romanians abroad can request information regarding the prevention and fight against the virus at the specially dedicated line - +4021 320 20 20.

 

*** GCS: 23,973 persons did not respect travel restrictions; fines worth 31 million lei

 

Policemen have observed, since the entry into force of Military Ordinance no. 3, nearly 24,000 persons which have not respected the travel restrictions, the fines issued totaling 31 million lei, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) informed on Saturday.

According to a release of the GCS sent to AGERPRES, since the entry into force of Military Ordinance no. 3, policemen observed 23,973 persons which did not respect the measure regarding the restriction of circulation. They were issued fines worth 31,410,624 lei.

Furthermore, the Internal Ministry personnel started 209 criminal cases for the crime of hindering the fight against diseases, the Police and Gendarmerie also applied 4,235 fines for breaking isolation/quarantine.

The Border Police, whilst conducting entry formalities, has started four criminal cases for false statements.
