Bolojan on Rosh Hashanah: We must combat antisemitism and discrimination
The Jewish community is an important part of Romania's history and of the country today, interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan said on Friday in a message marking Rosh Hashanah.
According to Bolojan, generations of Jewish Romanians have contributed to the country's development in culture, science, medicine and the economy.
'On the occasion of Rosh Hashanah 5787, I wish all Romanians in Jewish communities a good year, with health, peace and joy alongside their loved ones. Rosh Hashanah is an important holiday for the Jewish community in Romania, which continues to preserve traditions and values passed down through generations. It is part of Romania's cultural heritage. The Jewish community is an important part of Romania's history and of the country today. Generations of Jewish Romanians have contributed to our country's development in culture, science, medicine, the economy and many other fields. It is a contribution that we recognise and respect. For this heritage to remain part of Romania today, we must combat antisemitism and discrimination and ensure that the law is upheld whenever they occur. Shana Tova u-Metuka!' Bolojan said.
