Bucharest Stock Exchange: 17 million lei individual net profit in H1, best H1 performance on record

The Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) posted individual net profit of 17 million lei in the first half of this year, marking its best first half-year performance on record, according to a Thursday BVB press release.

'First half year with record financial results, marked by new all-time highs, intense trading activity supported by high market liquidity and increased investor interest. (...) Net profitability in H1 2026 reached a record level of 17 million lei, marking the best first half in BVB history,' the aforementioned document reveals.

Operating revenue increased 61% compared with the first half of last year, reaching 28.75 million lei, driven directly by trading revenue, which rose by 88% year on year, following favourable market developments reflected in higher trading volumes, new financing rounds and strong investor interest.

According to the BVB, the increase was also supported by revenue from issuer fees, data sales and IT services.

Operating expenses, amounting to 15.43 million lei, increased 8% compared with the first half of 2025, due to the completion of the staffing plan to meet operational needs as well as salary adjustments made during 2025, according to the source.

Under these circumstances, operating profit in the first six months of 2026 reached 13.32 million lei, up 280% compared with H1 2025, with an operating margin of 46%.

Financial profit stood at 5.88 million lei, mainly consisting of dividend income from DC (Central Depository, ed. note) amounting to 4.97 million lei.

At group level, BVB profitability improved due to better-than-expected financial results from the trading and post-trading and registry segments, whose combined net profit exceeded 22 million lei, according to the press release.

'The result supports the operating expenses incurred by the subsidiary CCP.RO, which is currently preparing for its operational launch,' the quoted document reads.

BVB Group operating revenue reached 54.97 million lei, up 48% year on year, driven by the trading segment and supported by the post-trading and registry segment amid the increase in the market capitalisation of companies listed on the BVB and the volume of transactions carried out.

Operating expenses of 41.28 million lei increased by 10% compared with H1 2025, mainly as a result of the completion of the staffing plan and salary adjustments at group level.

The group reported operating profit of 13.69 million lei, compared with a loss of 490,000 lei in H1 2025, directly reflecting the favourable development of operating revenue.

Financial profit stood at 1.23 million lei, mainly consisting of interest income.

BVB Group net profit in the first half of this year stood at 13.8 million lei, representing a significant increase from the 1.48 million lei recorded in H1 2025. AGERPRES (RO - writing by: Andreea Marinescu; EN - writing by: Adina Panaitescu)
