The members of the Association of Romania's Large Commercial Networks (AMRCR) have put into practice a series of measures after a state of alert was declared in terms of carrying out commercial activities, curtailing the use of air conditioning and turning off advertising lighting during the night, the organisation announced on Tuesday in a statement.

Other measures taken include predominant use of LED lighting and dimming/dimmable lighting depending on the level of natural light; temperature sensors for efficient management of air conditioning systems; installation of doors at all showcases and food refrigeration installations; installation of presence sensors in all administrative and back-office spaces; the use of photovoltaic panels for self-consumption.

'AMRCR members are aware of the responsibility they have towards the communities in which they operate. By these voluntary measures, we aim to actively contribute to reducing the pressure on the national energy system, while ensuring the continuity of the trade flow, under complete safety and comfort for consumers.'

Interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan had a working session on Tuesday with the main energy suppliers, during which they analysed, among other things, solutions to ensure liquidity in the market and the identification of measures to voluntarily reduce power usage among large consumers.
