The head of NATO's Allied Joint Support and Enabling Command, Lieutenant General Kai Rohrschneider, paid a working visit to Romania between July 29 and 30, according to a press release sent on Thursday by the Ministry of National Defense (MApN).

According to MApN officials, the visit aimed to strengthen cooperation between the Defense Staff and the Allied Joint Support and Enabling Command in the field of military mobility, the support provided by the host state and the facilitation of the movement of allied forces on NATO's Eastern Flank.

'At the headquarters of the Defense General Staff, the allied official had meetings with the Deputy Chief of the Defense General Staff, Lieutenant General Dragos-Dumitru Iacob, and with the Deputy Chief of the Defense General Staff for Operations and Training, Lieutenant General Iulian Berdila. During the discussions, topics related to the developments in the security environment in the Black Sea region, the consolidation of NATO's deterrence and defense posture on the Eastern Flank, as well as the development of the necessary capabilities to ensure military mobility and the support provided by the host state were addressed,' the MApN informs.

At the same time, the ways in which Romania contributes to facilitating the reception, deployment and support of allied forces on the national territory were analyzed, in accordance with NATO defense plans, highlighting the importance of cooperation between military institutions and civil authorities to strengthen resilience and response capacity.

During the visit, the delegation led by Kai Rohrschneider traveled to the National Administration of State Reserves and Special Issues, the Department for Emergency Situations, Base 26 RSOM and Base 90 Air Transport, where national capabilities regarding the reception, stationing, integration and support of allied forces were presented, as well as the cooperation mechanisms between military structures and civil institutions involved in ensuring military mobility and national resilience.

'The visit reconfirmed the importance of close cooperation between Romania and NATO command structures for the development of an efficient network of support and facilitation of the movement of allied forces, as well as the role of our country in the implementation of regional defense plans and in strengthening security on the Eastern Flank of the Alliance,' the MApN press release also states.

Allied Joint Support and Enabling Command, headquartered in Ulm, Germany, is the NATO operational command responsible for coordinating activities to support and facilitate the movement, reinforcement and sustainment of allied forces in the area of responsibility of the Supreme Allied Commander Europe. Its role is to contribute to the consolidation of the deterrence and defense posture of the Alliance. AGERPRES(RO - writing by: Cristian Lupascu; EN - writing by: Bogdan Gabaroi)
