Contemporary art exhibition 'Stories in Layers' by artist Mirela Traistaru at IRCCU Venice
The Romanian Institute of Culture and Humanistic Research (IRCCU) in Venice is organising, from 1 to 14 August, the contemporary art exhibition called 'Stories in Layers' by artist Mirela Traistaru.
According to a release from the Romanian Cultural Institute (ICR) Press Office sent to AGERPRES on Tuesday, the opening will take place on Friday, 31 July, at 18:00, in the presence of the artist and the curator.
Bringing together works from the series 'Tesaturi de la Bunica Mea' (Weaves from My Grandmother), 'Coronite' (Little Crowns) and 'Memoria locului' (The Memory of the Place), the exhibition offers an insight into Mirela Traistaru's artistic universe, providing the public with a perspective on a vision in which memory, colour and experience come together in a deeply personal visual language.
Drawing inspiration from emotional memory, Romanian traditions and the relationship between humans and nature, these series are reinterpreted through a contemporary lens, in which colour schemes and painterly gestures create a dialogue between identity, heritage and present-day sensitivity.
Curated by Antigona Silvia Rogozea, the exhibition can be visited at the Small Gallery of the IRCCU Venice from Tuesday to Sunday, between 16:00 and 20:00.

With an artistic career spanning more than two decades, Carmen-Mirela Traistaru, who was born in Bistrita, has exhibited in the United States, Switzerland, Austria, India, South Korea and Japan. In addition to painting, she has created stage designs and costumes for theatre productions and taken part in contemporary art projects, installations and performances.
Her works are held in private collections in numerous European, Asian and North American countries, and the artist is considered one of the important figures in Romanian contemporary art.
She has been a member of the Union of Visual Artists of Romania since 1998.
