Prime minister-designate Eugen Tomac said on Friday that it is essential for state institutions to raise their vigilance alongside greater accountability from decision-makers, as security incidents are becoming more frequent.

'We are going through a period in which security incidents are starting to multiply. Naturally, they fuel a sense of uncertainty in the public space. This is why it is crucial for state institutions to increase their vigilance, paired with responsibility from those in charge. This must be accompanied by clearer, more effective communication that leaves no room for conspiracy theories,' Tomac wrote on Facebook.

He urged Romanians to trust that institutions will function properly and that citizens' safety remains the sole priority.

'I welcome the fact that authorities took action to secure the area in Constanta Port and that there were no victims. The sooner we have a fully empowered government capable of managing such situations in an integrated manner, the better,' he added.
