The Quantum Robotics team from the International Computer High School of Bucharest has qualified for the World Robotics Championship, set to take place in Houston, United States.

'They started in a high school lab and rose to the top ranks worldwide. With a record that propelled them among the best teams in the world, Quantum Robotics is taking Romania to the World Robotics Championship in Houston. This is not just a qualification, but proof that global performance is built step by step, right here,' informs a press release sent to AGERPRES on Wednesday.

'For the Quantum Robotics members, competing at the World Championship in Houston offers the chance to represent Romania on a global stage where technical excellence, creativity and teamwork converge at the highest level. At the same time, participation in such a large-scale competition entails significant logistical and financial costs, making the support of companies and partners investing in education and technology essential to sustaining this journey,' reads the release.

Over the past year, the team has already represented Romania in the United States at the Michiana Premier Event, one of the most competitive international robotics stages.

Founded in 2017, Quantum Robotics currently has 15 members and nine volunteers, high school students in the 9th, 10th and 11th grades.

The team members are Banu Andrei, Ciobanu Theodor, Conea Stefan, Dondera Mihai, Miscoci Vlad, Onita Anca, Pasarelu Ianis, Paul Sandra, Pisaru Ana, Rebegea Stefan, Rotar Vlad, Saila Matei, Sauciuc David, Stoicescu Eric and Uteu Kerem, while the volunteers are Boicu Victor, Catarama Tudor, Florea Iris, Georgescu Carina, Ilin Ioana, Toader Sebastian, Tunsoiu Cezar, Uteu Umut and Zara Maira. The team mentors are Acsinte Ana-Maria, Kekec Enes, Miscoci Luca, Sertel Emre and State Gabriel.

The current team is coordinated by Eric Stoicescu, team leader, alongside Anca Onita, PR & Marketing lead, Uteu Kerem, Manufacturing lead, and Vlad Miscoci, Hardware lead.

At this year's national championship, the team claimed the national title, winning the final as alliance captain. In the competition's last match, their technical performance and on-field coordination produced a world-record score of 463 points, placing them first globally in match rankings. At the same event, Quantum Robotics also won the Design Award I, recognising the reliability, performance and durability of its robot.

Over its nine years of participation in FTC competitions, the team has won awards at every national stage it has entered, consistently building a strong track record in high-performance robotics, the press release notes. AGERPRES (RO - writing by: Petronius Craiu; EN - writing by: Simona Iacob)
