French Film Festival's anniversary edition to bring 30 films to Bucharest and 15 cities in Romania
More than 30 films from Cannes, Berlin, Locarno and Venice festivals, as well as productions awarded the Cesar prize, will be presented at the 30th edition of the French Film Festival, taking place between 19 and 29 March in Bucharest and 15 other cities across Romania.
According to a press release organisers sent to AGERPRES on Monday, the films included in the anniversary edition will be screened in cinemas and alternative cultural venues in Arad, Baia Mare, Brasov, Braila, Cluj-Napoca, Constanta, Craiova, Iasi, Pitesti, Ploiesti, Sfantu Gheorghe, Sibiu, Suceava, Targu Mures and Timisoara.
In Bucharest, the festival will be hosted by Elvire Popesco Cinema, and tickets are already available online at www.festivalff.ro and on Eventbook: http://tiny.cc/ProgramFFF2026, or can be purchased directly from the cinema's box office.
The festival will be preceded by a warm-up event taking place at Elvire Popesco Cinema on 15 March from 18:30. The event will include a special screening of the film 'Out 1: Spectre' (1972), marking 10 years since the death of filmmaker Jacques Rivette. The film will be presented in an alternative screening version with a total running time of 4 hours and 25 minutes.
The Panorama section represents the core of the 30th edition of the French Film Festival and brings together the local premieres of the most anticipated French productions of the past year.
This year's festival programme also includes the section 'Heritage: 30 Years of French Cinema,' within which several titles can be revisited years after their original release.
The Young Talents Competition - Feature Film brings together four films by young filmmakers, while the Young Talents Competition - Short Film is expected with an original selection.
The Young Audience section brings some of the most beloved recent French animations. These include 'Amelie et la Metaphysique des tubes' (Liane-Cho Han Jin Kuang, Mailys Vallade), 'Arco,' the most recent animation by filmmaker Ugo Bienvenu, Vincent Munier's documentary 'Le Chant des forets,' and Michel Hazanavicius's animation 'La Plus Precieuse des marchandises.'
A series of meetings, debates and special evenings will also take place as part of the anniversary edition.
