Constantin Brancusi governs us from somewhere above, all authentic creators with Romanian roots, said the actor Ioan Andrei Ionescu, who played the great sculptor in the 2014 feature film 'Brancusi... from Eternity,' directed by Adrian Popovici.

Now, 150 years after the birth of the great sculptor, the actor confessed that after completing his research and filming for the production, and even years later, he 'remained with this feeling and this intimate truth that Brancusi is the father of the modern era in art or one of the fathers of the modern era in art.'

The main reason that led him to join the project was, besides the personality of the great sculptor, the fact that he himself comes from a family of artists.

'First of all, because it was about a character rooted in reality and an exceptional cultural personality of the Romanian people. Secondly, it was about an artist and for me that is part of intimacy, because my roots are of that kind. My father was a painter and indeed a minimalist painter, somehow an heir to the artistic values that Brancusi left behind,' Ioan Andrei Ionescu told AGERPRES.

The actor revealed that he used his father as a model when bringing Constantin Brancusi to the screen.

As for the research for the role, the artist said it was 'limited' by the story in the script.

He acknowledges that it is difficult to make another film adaptation about the life of the great sculptor, because 'it is extremely difficult to grapple with Brancusi.'

'If someone were to have the courage to embody, in very large quotation marks, to step into the skin of the character Brancusi, then that person would have to surrender to Brancusi's very spirit. It is a metaphysical state when you access such an important personality, spiritually and culturally,' Ioan Andrei Ionescu said.
