BrancusiYear/Works making up 'Constantin Brancusi: The Origins of Infinity' exhibition arrive in Rome

Image

The works that will make up the exhibition 'Constantin Brancusi: The Origins of Infinity' arrived in Rome on Friday, marking the beginning of a major cultural moment in the Romanian - Italian artistic dialogue, Romanian Ambassador to the Italian Republic Gabriela Dancau wrote on a social network, announcing that the exhibition will be open to the public from February 20 to July 19, 2026, at the Mercati di Traiano Museum.

As part of the Romanian calendar for the Romania - Italy Cultural Year 2026, developed and promoted by the Romanian Embassy in Italy and carried out with the support of the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Defense Ministry, under the High Patronage of the Presidents of Romania and Italy, Romania's National Museum of Art - in partnership with the Craiova Art Museum and the 'Alexandru Stefulescu' Gorj County Museum - the Mercati di Traiano Museum in Rome is hosting the exhibition 'Constantin Brancusi: The Origins of Infinity'.

The initiative is also part of the series of events marking the 150th anniversary of the birth of Constantin Brancusi (1876-1957), a foundational figure of modern art whose work redefined the language of sculpture on a universal scale.

Among the emblematic works presented in Rome are The Prayer, Mademoiselle Pogany, Prometheus, Torso and The Chair (from the Table of Silence ensemble), pieces that trace the sculptor's artistic evolution from his roots in Romanian tradition to the essentialised forms that would leave a lasting imprint on modernity, Dancau wrote. She went on to say that 'in the coming months, Rome becomes the space of a symbolic encounter between tradition and avant-garde, between root and infinity.'
