The exhibition 'Brancusi: Between Fashion and Technology,' which proposes a contemporary translation of Brancusi art forms and concepts into the language of fashion, complemented by visual, sound and multimedia interventions exploring the relationship between form, space and perception, will open at the Media Hall of the National Museum of the Romanian Peasant on Thursday.

Curated by Iulia Gorneanu from the National Heritage Institute and Monica Morariu from the National Museum of Romanian Literature, the exhibition will be officially opened at 18:00 and is part of the 'Constantin Brancusi Year' programme organised to mark the 150th anniversary of the artist's birth, the museum announced in a Facebook post.

The project focuses on the creations of Flavia Nistor, whose work explores the reinterpretation of Constantin Brancusi's work through cultural fashion design, using an approach situated at the intersection of cultural research, symbolism and formal experimentation.

The garments created by Flavia Nistor make direct reference to iconic sculptures such as Miss Pogany, The Sleeping Muse and The Endless Column, as well as to recurring concepts in Brancusi's work including verticality, flight and the idea of the axis mundi, translated through volume, construction and contemporary techniques.

According to the museum, the exhibition moves away from the classic museum format, proposing a contemporary and accessible way of conveying cultural content in which fashion functions as a medium of artistic interpretation and reactivation of heritage.

Within the exhibition, a series of invited artists - Mircea Modreanu in graphics and photography, Giulian Dumitriu in solid bronze design and Petru Pap in sound interpretation - present original perspectives on Brancusi's creation.

Organised by the National Heritage Institute and the National Museum of Romanian Literature in partnership with the National Museum of the Romanian Peasant, the exhibition can be visited until 1 March, from Wednesday to Sunday, between 10:00 and 18:00.

Flavia Nistor is a Romanian fashion designer based in London, where she is attending the MA Fashion programme at the Royal College of Art. Her practice explores the integration of cultural heritage into contemporary design through collections built on interdisciplinary research, collaboration and the reinterpretation of traditional symbols.

Her interest in the work of Constantin Brancusi takes shape in an artistic approach that investigates the essentialisation of form and the spiritual dimension of the object. The collections dedicated to the sculptor are the result of in-depth research aimed at translating the artist's aesthetic principles into contemporary fashion structures.

Flavia Nistor has created one of the most sustainable collections launched on the NET-A-PORTER platform in collaboration with The King's Foundation and has been part of the design teams of international brands such as Tom Ford.
