Library of Romanian Academy launches digital library on National Day
The Library of the Romanian Academy launched its digital library on the National Day of Romania, giving readers the possibility to explore, easily and from anywhere at any time, valuable heritage documents from various areas and historical periods relevant to the development of Romanian and universal culture, art and science.
The platform is a project in development and at this stage offers access to a selection of periodical publications from the years 1837-1950, digitised in PDF format, the Communication and Public Image Office of the Romanian Academy reported on Tuesday.
The periodicals are organised by fields of interest such as culture-art-civilisation, economy, education-philosophy-ethics, the interwar period, history-politics-diplomacy and others, each newspaper or magazine title representing a digital collection comprising all digitised issues of that periodical.
The e-Acad platform allows consultation of both widely circulated titles and rare publications that until now were less accessible or could only be viewed in the reading room. Within each collection users can perform quick and advanced searches and materials may be sorted and filtered by year, issue or subjects.
According to the source, 'The e-Acad platform will continue with the addition of increasingly diverse resources, including new series of periodicals, rare books, manuscripts, photographs and other special collections.'
Through e-Acad part of the heritage of the Library of the Romanian Academy is now available online for documentation and research.
The Library of the Romanian Academy has made significant contributions both to Bucharest's digital library Digibuc and to the digital library of European Union countries.
e-Acad is available at: https://biblacad.ro/lista-documente-digitizate/#bottom. AGERPRES (RO - writing by: Daniel Popescu; EN - writing by: Adina Panaitescu)
