Romania is becoming a high-performing hub for advanced technology and innovation, offering new business opportunities for Bavarian companies through partnerships, investments or access to new markets, is the conclusion of experts who recently attended the event 'Rumanien & Bulgarien - Wachstum, Dynamik, Zukunft' ('Romania and Bulgaria - Growth, Dynamism, Future'), organised by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK) Munich.

According to a press release the Romanian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AHK Romania) sent to AGERPRES on Friday, several Bavarian and Romanian companies were invited to Munich to participate in discussions and meetings with business representatives and authorities from both countries.

Representing Romania, alongside delegates from AHK Romania, were Bavarian companies such as Infineon Technologies Romania, Lipsticks GmbH, and the Knauf Group, as well as Romanian companies including Oves Enterprise and Assist Software. Public authorities were also present, including representatives from the City Halls of Oradea, Deva and Resita.

'The initiative of IHK Munich to bring together companies from Germany, Romania and Bulgaria is a direct consequence of the growing interest shown by German companies in this region. We were pleased to see that Romanian companies and authorities are also eager to collaborate with the German business environment and to identify new ways of achieving economic growth. In Romania, sectors such as information and communication technology, the automotive industry, energy, as well as manufacturing and Industry 4.0 (artificial intelligence and data analytics, robotics and automation) present high business potential for German companies. In addition, a growing start-up ecosystem offers concrete opportunities for entrepreneurial involvement. I am particularly pleased by the participation of many innovative Romanian companies at this event, as it allows us to open up the German export market to them as well,' AHK Romania General Manager Sebastian Metz is quoted in the press release as saying.

According to representatives of the Romanian-German Chamber of Commerce, the participation of Romanian authorities and companies in such events contributes to promoting the national brand and increasing Romania's international visibility, providing opportunities to enter or expand into new markets.

'The direct effects of these participations may not be visible immediately, but in the medium term, they will lead to increased foreign investment, exports, as well as the development of joint projects and partnerships. Romanian companies also have the chance to better understand the local landscape and businesses for potential plans to open subsidiaries in Germany. Business expansion, partnerships and trade exchanges, especially exports, are real solutions for reducing Romania's budget deficit of over 8% of GDP and, at the same time, represent incentives for developing a healthy economy. Accession to the Schengen Area at the beginning of 2025 has simplified the free movement of goods, helping to optimise cross-border business operations,' the press release reads.

AHK Romania is the official representative of the German economy, established in 2002 and currently counting over 670 member companies. Since 1 January 2020, the Competence Centre for the Republic of Moldova has been operating within AHK Romania, with the aim of strengthening business relations between companies from Romania, the Republic of Moldova, and Germany.
