Babes-Bolyai University to mark 20 years of European Researchers' Night
Babes-Bolyai University (UBB) in Cluj-Napoca will be marking 20 years of the European Researchers' Night with a wide array of interactive activities, including presentations, exhibitions, experiments, interviews, competitions, workshops, and games.
'Babes-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca is once again participating in the organisation of the European Researchers' Night. On Friday, 26 September 2025, between 13:00 and 24:00, the open-air event ‘European Researchers' Night 2025' will take place on the esplanade in front of the ‘Horia Demian' Sports Hall in Cluj-Napoca. This year, Cluj-Napoca joins Iasi, Bistrita, Sighetu Marmatiei, Beclean, Nasaud, Sangeorz-Bai, Pascani, and Harlau, alongside over 400 cities across Europe dedicated to science and innovation,' the university informed in a press release on Thursday.
According to the release, the event is organised as a key activity within the SCIENCE4FUTURE-III project, funded through the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions, under the Horizon Europe Framework Programme (HORIZON).
'This year's edition holds special significance, marking 20 years since the launch of this European initiative. Our city thus becomes part of one of the most prestigious and well-known European efforts to popularise science. Over the years, it has established itself as a unique opportunity for young students and pupils, as well as for the broader community, to discover the world of research and innovation. Our partners will host a wide range of interactive activities, including presentations, exhibitions, experiments, interviews, competitions, workshops, and games,' the organisers added.
The main objective of the SCIENCE4FUTURE-III project is to present research results and methods to the general public, aiming to raise awareness of the importance of research, innovation, and technology transfer, while also contributing to the public recognition of researchers and a greater understanding of how their work impacts everyday life.
Additionally, the project includes showcasing the activities, services, and products of relevant local and regional actors, in order to highlight the role of continuous development, research, and innovation in improving quality of life and ensuring the sustainability of the social and economic environment.
For one day, children of all ages, teenagers and adults alike will have the opportunity to actively take part in scientific experiments, engage in discussions with researchers, and discover the outcomes of scientific research and how these are implemented in practice.
