Magnitude 3.7 earthquake recorded in Buzau County Saturday at noon
A magnitude 3.7 earthquake occurred on Saturday at 11:42 local time in Buzau County - southeastern Romania, the National Earth Physics Research and Development Institute (INCDFP) announced.
The quake was 115.4 km deep. The cities closest to the epicenter are: Sfantu-Gheorghe - 56 km northwest, Focsani - 59 km east, Buzau - 62 km southeast, Brasov - 64 km west, and Ploiesti - 82 km southwest.
This is the second earthquake in August, and follows a sequence of 19 seismic events recorded in Romania in July, with Richter magnitudes between 2.1 and 3.7.
The strongest two tremors this year both measured 4.4 on the Richter scale, and occurred on February 13 in Buzau County and on May 11 in Vrancea County, respectively.
