Romanian Consulate in Los Angeles - evacuated due to fires in area (Foreign Ministry)

Bucharest, Jan 10 /Agerpres/ - The American authorities have requested the evacuation of the building of the General Consulate of Romania in Los Angeles, in the context of the strong fires that mainly affected Los Angeles County in the State of California, informs the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE).

Thus, the consular office temporarily suspends its activity at the headquarters in Wilshire Boulevard No. 11766 Suite 200, Los Angeles CA 90025.

Emergency consular services continue to be provided for Romanian citizens through a mobile consular team, which can be called on the emergency phone number of the Consulate General of Romania in Los Angeles: +13107210474.

The MAE advises Romanian citizens who are in Los Angeles County to follow the instructions of the local authorities and call the emergency number 911 in case of imminent danger.

Until now, there are no reports of deceased Romanian citizens, and no requests for consular assistance have been received at the level of the consular office.

The MAE, through the consular office of Romania in Los Angeles, continues to follow the evolution of the fires and maintains contact both with the local authorities and with the Romanian citizens in the community.

Romanian citizens can request consular assistance at the Consulate General of Romania in Los Angeles at the telephone numbers: +1 (202) 332-2392, +1 (202) 332-2935 and +1 (202) 332-4858, calls being redirected to Contact and Support Center of Romanian Citizens Abroad (CCSCRS) and taken over by Call Center operators on a permanent basis.
