Tennis: Raluca Olaru qualifies for second round of doubles event of Australian Open tournament

Romanian-German pair Raluca Olaru/Anna-Lena Friedsam has qualified for the second round of the women's doubles event at the Australian Open tennis tournament, the first Grand Slam of the year, following their victory in Melbourne on Wednesday, while pair Irina Begu/Nina Stojanovic lost.
Raluca Olaru and German Anna-Lena Friedsam defeated French Alize Cornet/Diane Parry, 6-4, 6-4, in one hour and 25 minutes.
The next opponents of the Olaru/Friedsam team will be Chinese Yifan Xu/Zhaoxuan Yang, seeds. no. 14.
Olaru and Friedsam won a cheque of 45,100 US dollars and 130 WTA points in doubles.
In another match, Irina Begu and Serbian Nina Stojanovic, seeds no. 15, were defeated by Rebecca Peterson (Sweden)/Anatasia Potapova (Russia), 2-6, 6-3, 7-5, after almost two hours of play (1 h 50 min).
Begu and Stojanovic won 30,050 US dollars and 10 WTA points in doubles. Begu has also qualified for the second round in the singles event, where she is set to meet Belgian Elise Mertens.
