Predoiu: Respect to all women and men who wear this uniform with dignity and courage
The police is not just a state institution, it is one of the most concrete forms through which the state makes its presence felt in the lives of citizens, declared the Minister of Internal Affairs (MAI) Catalin Predoiu, on Wednesday, on the occasion of Romanian Police Day.
'Behind the uniform is always a human being. On Romanian Police Day, I conveyed my respect to all the women and men who wear this uniform with dignity, discipline, courage, integrity and patriotism. The police is not just a state institution. It is one of the most concrete forms through which the state makes its presence felt in the life of the citizen: when it defends the law, when it intervenes in the face of danger, when it restores order, when it protects the victim and deters the criminal. Respect for the Romanian Police!', is the message of Minister Predoiu, according to a post on the MAI Facebook page.
The minister emphasized that a country's security is not proclaimed, it is proven.
'On Romanian Police Day, we talked about concrete facts: crime decreased by 11% compared to the previous year, the results in combating drug trafficking were significantly better, and in road safety we reached the lowest values in the last 12 years for serious accidents, deaths and serious injuries. Behind these results are police officers who do their duty every day,' he said.
Catalin Predoiu emphasized that, in difficult times, the true strength of an institution is seen.
'I said today, on Romanian Police Day, something I believe in: I know that there are economic pressures, I know that there is tension and fatigue, but duty cannot be put in parentheses. It is precisely in such moments that character, discipline and moral strength are seen.
