Germany's Ambassador Angela Ganninger says relations with Romania are close and based on trust
Germany's Ambassador to Bucharest Angela Ganninger conveyed a message on the occasion of German Unity Day, underscoring that her country remains a reliable partner for Romania, both in bilateral relations and within multilateral organisations and forums.
German Unity Day marks the reunification of Germany on 3 October 1990.
Angela Ganninger said that German Unity Day offers an opportunity to look back with gratitude on the reunification of Germany and on overcoming the period of Europe's division. She went on saying that today, we are once again facing major challenges in Europe, such as war on European soil, rising energy prices, the effects of artificial intelligence and attempts from outside to divide our societies. We can see worldwide how quickly freedom and democracy can come under pressure, she mentioned. In this context, Germany's Ambassador to Bucharest said that the Federal Government continues to place security, prosperity and freedom at the centre of its work.
She mentioned that relations between the two countries are close and based on trust. At the same time, the action plan signed last year in Berlin covers the full range of cooperation in political, security, economic and cultural affairs.
The ambassador said Germany remains a reliable partner bilaterally, but also within the organisations, alliances and multilateral forums in which the two countries are active. As Germany's Ambassador to Romania, this year, she said she discovered numerous remarkable places and people who keep the ties between Romania and Germany alive and who are committed to a united Europe or help their Ukrainian neighbours. She added that she is very grateful for these experiences and for this involvement. AGERPRES (RO - writing by: Irinela Visan; EN - writing by: Rodica State)
