Interim PM Bolojan meets EU ambassadors, EC representative accredited to Bucharest
Interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan met with the ambassadors of European Union member states and the European Commission's representative accredited to Bucharest, thanking them for their cooperation and continued support for the Romanian Government.
According to a government press release issued on Wednesday, during the meeting the prime minister congratulated Ireland on its Presidency of the Council of the EU, commending its work to date and wishing it continued success amid the challenges facing the European Union and its member states.
'Romania's membership of the European Union is one of the most important achievements of the past 35 years. Being part of the European family is a major gain for Romania and I am confident that this course will be maintained,' the prime minister said in his intervention.
Bolojan briefly outlined the measures adopted by the Government to restore budgetary balance and address structural shortcomings, with the aim of strengthening Romania's economy and boosting business confidence.
He also stressed the importance of continuing these measures amid a challenging international environment, as well as the need to ensure energy security and keep prices affordable for the population.
'Another topic discussed was the security situation in the Black Sea, which continues to deteriorate. The prime minister highlighted Romania's willingness to cooperate closely with Bulgaria and Türkiye to ensure the safety of navigation in the region, including in the context of recent attacks on commercial vessels in the exclusive economic zones of Bulgaria and Romania,' the press release reads.
Hybrid activities and disinformation campaigns were also discussed.
In conclusion, Prime Minister Bolojan thanked allied partners for their military presence in Romania, which contributes to strengthening the security of NATO's eastern flank and the Black Sea region. AGERPRES (RO - writing by: Daniel Florea; EN - writing by: Adina Panaitescu)
