Interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan said on Saturday, at the inauguration of the Vascular-Cerebral Pathology and Neurosurgery Centre at the Cluj County Emergency Clinical Hospital, that quality healthcare cannot be provided without investment and without equipment.

'I am pleased that an investment is being completed today and I hope that, as soon as the equipment has also been received, we will be in a position where Dr Florian's team can work in much better conditions. Because without investment, without equipment, we cannot expect quality healthcare in the years ahead,' Ilie Bolojan said.

He also mentioned the achievement of the medical school in Cluj-Napoca.

'I am honoured to attend this event. And I am here, first and foremost, as a sign of respect for the medical school in Cluj-Napoca, for the doctors in this city and I thank them because when serious cases arise in Transylvania, most of them are treated in Cluj, I thank them for the students they train here, because they go on to work in hospitals throughout Transylvania. And I am grateful to them for what they do for our healthcare system, with Cluj being one of the strongest centres in this respect,' Ilie Bolojan said.

The interim prime minister added that he had 'a personal obligation' to doctor Ioan Stefan Florian, whom he said had 'saved a few of my friends.'

'I am here as a sign of respect for Dr Florian and the team he has built (...). And I am here out of respect for this great city that is Cluj-Napoca, for the people here, because it is a locomotive of Romania's development and we know that our country is developing around a few locomotives.
