PSD head Grindeanu demands Pislaru's resignation: He used public funds for 'fictitious trips to Brussels
Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) Sorin Grindeanu demanded on Wednesday the resignation of acting Minister of Investment, European Projects and Labour Dragos Pislaru, accusing him of having used public funds for 'fictitious' weekend trips to Brussels and of donating his Bucharest homes in order to obtain a residence from the State Protocol Property Corporation (RA-APPS).
'We still have no draft of the wage-law in Parliament. And on this I want to make just one remark: the dismissed Minister Pislaru no longer has any political or moral legitimacy to handle procedures related to the wage-law. He is unfit to coordinate this essential project after using public money for fictitious weekend trips to Brussels and after donating his Bucharest houses to obtain a RA-APPS apartment of over 120 square metres on Kiseleff Boulevard,' Grindeanu said at the Parliament Palace.
He added that a minister who 'cuts RON 5,000 from an ICU doctor's pay with one hand, but signs a EUR 1,000 protocol arrangement from public funds to cover family expenses in Brussels over the weekend, has no place in that office anymore'.
Grindeanu ended with a pointed message: 'So, Pislaru, a short kind reminder: leave the team-building in Targoviste, where you are now, and resign urgently'.
Acting Minister of Investment, European Projects and Labour Dragos Pîslaru is facing allegations that he obtained a service apartment from RA-APPS after donating his two Bucharest properties to his parents, according to a report aired by broadcaster Romania TV. The station claims the Ministry of European Investment and Projects requested a service residence for Pislaru on June 26 and July 3, 2025, but the application was initially rejected on July 18 because he still appeared as the owner of a house and an apartment in Bucharest - a situation that did not meet RA-APPS eligibility criteria.
Romania TV reports that Pislaru submitted a new request on July 28, and received on August 8, 2025 the approval for a service apartment. The residence is described as a five-room, 123-square-metre unit on Kiseleff Boulevard, near the Triumphal Arch.
According to the TV station, the two Bucharest properties no longer appeared in Pislaru's asset declaration between the initial refusal and the subsequent approval, allegedly because they had been donated to his mother.
The report also refers to a property in Belgium, stating that Pislaru and his wife allegedly own a villa of about 225 square metres near Brussels, valued at roughly EUR 500,000.
