Moldovan Prime Minister Vasile Tofan will make on Thursday his first foreign visit since taking office, travelling to Bucharest for meetings with Romania's leadership, the Moldovan Government announced. His programme includes talks with President Nicusor Dan, acting Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, and the leadership of the Romanian Parliament.

According to the Government in Chisinau, Tofan will hold a bilateral meeting with his Romanian counterpart, Ilie Bolojan, focusing on strategic projects of common interest, economic cooperation and regional security developments. The discussion will be followed by joint press statements.

The agenda will also cover the status and acceleration of bilateral projects, with emphasis on transport and energy initiatives aimed at strengthening interconnection between the two banks of the Prut and addressing current challenges.

According to the Romanian Government, the two senior officials will also address aspects related to the security situation in the region, against the backdrop of Russia's ongoing war of aggression against Ukraine, as well as the security and economic consequences of this war, with Bolojan expected to reiterate Romania's firm support for Moldova's accession to the European Union and discuss concrete forms of assistance and diplomatic and sectoral coordination to advance the process.

In addition, the Moldovan prime minister will participate in a discussion session with representatives of the Bessarabian Businessmen's Club, focused on stimulating investment and supporting the business environment.
