At least a third of Romania's 2028-2034 development funding should go to private sector (minister)

At least a third of the financing intended for Romania's development in the 2028-2034 European programming period should be allocated to the private sector, through financial instruments and access to capital, not predominantly through grants, interim Minister of European Investment and Projects Dragos Pislaru, said on Thursday.

'I have started to convince my colleagues in the government and in the political area of the fact that, in 2028-2034, at least a third of all the financing that we can think of for Romania's development must be allocated to the private sector and, be careful, not through grants, with financing with very high percentages, but rather through financial instruments and access to capital. And there is something that I think is essential: we should get out of the simple quantitative absorption of European money and move on to qualitative absorption and the one related to the way we manage to multiply the money', said Pislaru, at the launch of the Graffiti Plus company on the AeRO market of the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB).

The Bucharest Stock Exchange is 'a vital partner in the future programming period 2028-2034,' said the minister.

'The whole plan and all the thinking that we have prepared since November assume that, in the future, in order to be able to respond to the needs we still have in terms of infrastructure, urban development and private sector development, the only way that works is to multiply European money. And, in order to respond to the need for economic growth, you must support the private sector,' Pislaru added.

In his opinion, the state should facilitate companies' access to financing and to the capital market.

'Today we celebrate not the fact that we give money to a company, but that we facilitate access of a competitive, high-performance, award-winning company at European level, in order to be able to really capitalise and offer investment opportunities on the Romanian and regional market,' added Pislaru.

Graffiti Plus (GRF+), a Romanian communication and brand marketing consulting company, debuted on Thursday on the AeRO market of the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB), after raising RON 3 million from investors in a private placement carried out in January.
