Romania - 1st place among nations at the European Geography Olympiad in Varna
Romania ranked first among nations, with five gold medals and three silver medals, at the European Geography Olympiad that took place in Varna, Bulgaria, informs the Ministry of Education in a post on its official Facebook page.
In the 'Juniors' category, Romania was represented by: Matesescu-Pascalau Bogdan-Andrei, 'C. D. Loga' National College Timisoara, gold medal; Toma Tudor, International Theoretical High School of Informatics Bucharest, gold medal; Eftime Matei, 'Dr. Ioan Mesota' National College Brasov, silver medal; Perhinschi Gabriel, 'Emil Racovita' National College Iasi, silver medal.
In the 'Seniors' category, the Romanian team was represented by Dumitrescu David-Mihai, 'Carol I' National College, Craiova - gold medal (1st place in the ranking - highest score in the competition); Arama Alexandra-Mihaela, Iasi National College - gold medal; Paun Eduard-Ionut, 'Unirea' National College, Focsani - gold medal; Merauta Ionut, 'Unirea' National College, Focsani - silver medal.
The coordinating teachers were Fiscutean Mihaela Cornelia, Iasi National College, and Alexandru Mihaela Florina, Ministry of Education and Research.
