Drone explosion/Nicusor Dan: Ukrainian forces lost control as a result of actions taken by Russia
The naval drone that exploded on Friday morning in the Port of Constanta was part, along with other similar means of combat, of a military operation led by Ukraine against Russian aggression, and Ukrainian forces lost control as a result of electronic warfare actions undertaken by Russia, President Nicusor Dan said on X on Friday.
According to the head of state, 'the entry of this drone into Romanian sovereign space represents a direct consequence of the war waged by Russia against Ukraine.'
He specified that information received during the morning from the Ukrainian side allowed the evacuation of the area at risk of explosion.
'At this moment, all four naval drones that have gone out of control of the Ukrainian military forces have self-detonated,' the president informed.
In addition to the drone that self-destructed in the Port of Constanta, a second one self-detonated, under the monitoring of the Coast Guard, off the port, and two others exploded about 145 km east of Constanta.
'None of these drones caused any casualties or significant damage,' Nicusor Dan emphasized.
He gave assurances that, at present, there is no longer any danger to Romanian citizens and the national infrastructure.
The President mentioned that, throughout the day, he was in constant contact with all the institutions involved.
