With the theme 'Secure, sustainable and affordable energy for Central and Eastern Europe,' the event is organised by the Romanian National Committee of the World Energy Council (CNR-CME), with the support of the World Energy Council. FOREN is regarded as one of the most important events for Romania's energy community and holds the status of a regional World Energy Council event for Central and Eastern Europe.
'FOREN 2026 responds to real needs for analysis and debate regarding the state of the energy sectors in the Central and South-Eastern European region and for identifying cooperation solutions in the energy field. The discussion of these subjects is all the more relevant as challenges intensify and become more complex amid the multiple difficulties faced by the region's energy sectors, the transformation of the broader development landscape, with impacts on dedicated markets, energy users and people's quality of life. In this context, cooperation among the world's states is crucial in responding to many of the challenges before us, and FOREN 2026 represents an ideal platform for information-sharing, identifying solutions, collaboration, exchanges of experience and best practices among experts from countries in the region, advancing solutions and holding business meetings, all of which are greatly needed during this period,' CNR-CME President Ion Lungu is quoted in the press release as saying.
Confirmed participants at the event include Adnan Amin, chairman of the World Energy Council; Dorin Junghietu, Energy Minister of the Republic of Moldova; Ioan Dumitrache, Secretary General of the Romanian Academy; Sandor Bende, Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies' Committee for Industries and Services; George Niculescu, President of the National Energy Regulatory Authority; Tudor Constantinescu, Principal Adviser to the Director General for Energy in the European Commission; and Lazar Comanescu, Ambassador and Secretary General of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organisation.
In addition, short addresses will be delivered during the opening session by decision-makers from major operators in the energy industry.
FOREN 2026 is being held under the patronage of Romania's Ministry of Energy, with the support of CNR-CME partners, academies, universities and media partners. AGERPRES (RO - writing by: Cristian Anghelache; EN - writing by: Adina Panaitescu)
