Romanian Academy to organise events dedicated to Constantin Brancusi on Thursday and Friday
The international conference 'Horizons of Modern Romanian Sculpture: from Karl Storck to Constantin Brancusi,' a prestigious gathering of specialists from around the world, will take place at the National Museum of Art of Romania (MNAR) on Thursday and Friday.
Organised by the 'G. Oprescu' Institute of Art History of the Romanian Academy in partnership with the National Museum of Art of Romania, the event will bring together 27 presentations delivered by renowned specialists from around the world, creating a space for interdisciplinary dialogue. Speakers will include Doina Lemny, PhD., Jonathan Vernon, PhD., and Cristian-Robert Velescu, PhD.
The conference will be held in English and French and will also be accessible online.
Also on Thursday, the Arts, Architecture and Audiovisual Section of the Romanian Academy invites the public to the conference 'TRIBUTE: Constantin Brancusi.'
The event will take place in the Aula of the Romanian Academy starting at 10:00, with free admission.
The event, organised with the support of the National Centre of Cinematography, is coordinated by Professor Dorin Stefan, corresponding member of the Romanian Academy, who will deliver the lecture 'The Heroes' Way in Targu Jiu.'
In partnership with the National Film Archive, two documentary films made in 1966 will be screened: 'Brancusi in Tg. Jiu,' directed by Erich Nussbaum, and 'Steps Towards Brancusi,' directed by Adrian Petringenaru.
